#4 River's Edge Restaurant

The River's Edge on the shore of the lazy Gasconade River has won the acclaim of St. Louis, Kansas City, and Jefferson City food critics. Joe Sweeney, editor and publisher of St. Louis Homes & Gardens, October 1993, reviews the River's Edge as "One of Missouri's Greatest Dining Treasures." Joe Pollock, former Food Editor for the St. Louis Post Dispatch, wrote "River's Edge: Drive is well worth the trip!"

Steve Simon wrote "Welcome to Fredericksburg . . . where everybody's somebody. Fredericksburg is located nine miles from the mouth of the Missouri River on the Gasconade. Our population is fourteen, not including cats and dogs.

"The old three-story 19th century mill is rich in heritage. Built in the mid-1800's, the building served as a flour mill, an ice house, and a fishing and hunting lodge. Local legend has it that during Prohibition the mill housed a bootleg operation that produced some of the best booze in the state of Missouri.

"The old mill now houses the River's Edge Restaurant, second floor living quarters, and a recording studio on the third floor.

"The mill still remains Fredericksburg's only SKYSCRAPER.

"The River's Edge specializes in seafood and freshwater fish, Cajun and Creole Cooking, House Specialities, Blackened and BBQ Specials, Specialty Salads, and a Full Bar. Especially popular with diners is the Cajun Crab Boil for Two! Absolutely New Orleans in Fredericksburg at Fredericksburg prices."
